If you’re looking to make the most of the coast, you’re in luck here. These shores come with resorts of all kinds, from the chilled chiringuitos along the coastline to fun-oriented towns typically ticking all the holiday boxes. Wherever you choose, sunbathing on gorgeous sands and swimming in gleaming waters is guaranteed.
The Costa Brava isn’t known as the ‘Wild Coast’ for nothing. It’s famous for its dramatic cliffs and untamed natural beauty – both spanning right across the lush shoreline. But there are plenty of incredible golden beaches sprinkled out along the seafront, so pick a place to spread out those towels. Sporty types, you’ll be in cycling and water sports heaven around these parts.
Calling all foodies – this is the Costa for you. The surrounding region has the highest concentration of Michelin stars in all of Spain and is also home to one of the world’s best restaurants. Catalan cuisine is a moreish mix of mountain meets sea, often in a stew. And the lush mountain valleys here are home to flourishing vineyards that produce cava too.
A place where medieval history combines with plenty of activities – like horse-riding and diving – Begur is the whitewashed hidden gem of the Costa Brava.
The 5km crescent of lush, gold-sand beaches and hidden coves are more than enough to entice you to visit L’Estartit.
Named after the tamarix trees that scatter the resort, this traditional fishing village is a low-key choice for families, groups and couples, all looking for a pretty Spanish spot.
You’ll be spoilt for choice with the area’s beaches. From lively, family-friendly golden stretches to quiet pine-fringed coves, the Costa Brava has it all. Tossa de Mar comes with two pristine Blue Flag beaches, while Lloret de Mar has five sand-and-shingle stretches to brag about.

This coastal stretch and the surrounding area has plenty to offer you if you’ve got an interest in history and culture. Think old town charm – and even a lighthouse! The breathtaking backdrop is enough to leave anyone in awe too, with vast expanses of unspoilt landscape.
See all sights (44)Thrill-seekers will be pleased to hear that there’s a waterpark and handful of fun-packed attractions in the area! You can even catch a train to the bright lights of Barcelona or Girona. If you find it hard to sit still, you’ll enjoy Peralada’s offering of sports and activities including horse riding and golf.

Spanish food is bursting with flavour, and with so much to choose from it can be hard to decide on a dish! That’s where tapas comes into play – little bite-size plates of tasty nibbles, often served with bread and great when teamed with a nice glass of local red!
See all eating and drinking (13)Tossa de Mar is a good tip for picking up locally-made ceramics (they’re something of a speciality around here). In nearby Platja d’Aro, there’s a nice selection of upmarket boutiques to peruse. Most towns also have a regular market brimming with souvenirs and super-fresh picnic supplies.

For high octane nights, Lloret de Mar is the place, with energy-packed clubs that are open from dusk till dawn. If you want things a little more low-key, Tossa’s atmospheric beachfront restaurants and bars will fit the bill – an idyllic spot to enjoy a cocktail and watch the sun go down.
